COVID-19 Vaccine Availability FAQ
How do I schedule an appointment?
You can schedule an appointment through the Patient Portal on TRICARE Online. If you do not have an account visit,
www.tricareonline.com
and select the “Need An Account.” If you are having trouble scheduling through TRICARE online, call (940)676-1847, for assistance. Â
When will the vaccine be available to me?
The 82d Medical Group continues to receive limited COVID vaccines and is following theÂ
DoDÂ
Population Scheme for vaccination. Currently the 82d Medical Group is administering the COVID vaccine to personnel in Tier 1A, 1B and 1C.Â
What tier am I in?
Military members or DoD employees- Contact your leadership for specific tier information.
Beneficiary age 75 or older –Tier 1B
Beneficiary age 65 to 74 –Tier 1C
At risk for severe illness as defined by the CDC (see link below) –Tier 1C
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/need-extra-precautions/people-with-medical- conditions.html
All other “healthy” active duty/dependents/retiree beneficiaries not previously listed –Tier 2
Why am I not high risk since I have (insert issue)? Who is deciding this list
The CDC routinely updates the
list of high-risk medical conditions that put people at increased risk for severe COVID-19 associated illness
as new data becomes available. CDC recommendations are based on those of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), an independent panel of medical and public health experts.
Â
Providers will not be conducting record reviews to determine priority of need between patients.
When will the COVID vaccine be available to me/my tier/my age group?
Unfortunately, there is no estimate on when vaccines will be available for Tier 2 dependents, retirees, and the majority of military members.
Are DOD beneficiaries that are not empaneled to the MTF (i.e. other retiree/dependents in the area) able to be put on a list to receive the COVID vaccine at the 82d Medical Group?
Beneficiaries that are not empaneled to the MTF are eligible to receive the vaccine when it becomes available to their tier.
The 82d Medical Group does not have a wait list of patients that will receive the vaccine.
Do I need to notify the 82d Medical Group if I receive my vaccine off base?
If you receive the COVID-19 vaccine through other means external to the MTF (e.g., retail pharmacy), please submit your vaccination paperwork to your provider via secure messaging or email your vaccination paperwork to
usaf.sheppard.82-mdg.mbx.immunizations@mail.mil
.
Do I have to get the vaccine?
The vaccine is currently optional for all beneficiaries. You have the right to decline vaccination.
*Active duty members declining the vaccine must fill out the DHA Form 207.* This form can emailed to our immunizations clinic at
usaf.sheppard.82-mdg.mbx.immunizations@mail.mil
.
I’m scheduled to get my shot. What do I do?
The 82d Medical Group COVID-19 Vaccine point of distribution (POD) is at the Base Theater on Sheppard Air Force Base (808 Avenue G, Bldg 840). Personnel with appointments should enter through the front door and proceed to the check-in table. From there, you will be directed to the next step.
Do I need to bring anything with me to my COVID vaccine appointment?
To save time, anyone with a scheduled appointment should bring the completed DHA Form 207
below
with you to your appointment. The DHA Form 207 is required before vaccination.
Â
Members who identify as “at risk for severe illness” (high risk) must provide proof from your provider.Â
Is there a wait list?
The 82d Medical Group does not have a wait list of patients that will receive the vaccine.
Please stay safe and continue to follow safety recommendations – wear a mask, stay 6 feet away from others, avoid crowds and poorly ventilated spaces, wash your hands often, cover coughs and sneezes, clean and disinfect. For more information visit,
